The Challenge
Pier Sixty-Six, an iconic waterfront destination in Fort Lauderdale, originally opened in 1965, embarked on a large-scale redevelopment to reimagine the property as a premier luxury resort and marina. The resort’s 17-story tower became an architectural icon with its mid-century design and the famous Pier Top a rotating lounge that completes a full 360-degree rotation every 66 minutes.
The project’s vision centered on creating elegant guest experience enhanced by modern technology from the lively public areas to the exclusive Presidential Suite and event spaces. The challenge was to deliver audio and video capabilities while maintaining the property’s aesthetic and ensuring flexibility for both guest enjoyment and resort operations.
The Solution
Mode:Green was brought on to design and implement a fully integrated AV system throughout the resort’s key spaces to bring connectivity and exceptional sound and video performance to every corner of the resort. This included conference rooms, lobbies, restaurants, cafés, and the renowned Pier Top to host live performances.
The system integrated background music across public spaces, ensuring balanced sound and smooth transitions from one area to another. In the conference and meeting rooms, Mode:Green implemented advanced video conferencing technology to support both business and social gatherings, complete with BYOD (Bring Your Own Device).
For the Pier Top, Mode:Green focused on bringing high-performance sound system capable of supporting live entertainment and DJ setups, providing an elevated audio experience for special events. Behind the scenes, cable management was brought for all areas.
Through Mode:Green’s expertise, Pier Sixty-Six now combines sophisticated and modern design with cutting-edge technology offering guests an atmosphere that reinforces its status as one of South Florida’s most celebrated and iconic destinations.
